Suraj has been in the music industry over 2 decades now, started early as being a teen whereby going to University is a great space for networking and of not to forget partying. Being around various musical influences during his early years allowed him to enter the world of what they call “Entertainment”
As they say practice makes perfect, therefore Suraj refined his art of mixing, blending & cutting which only left one more checkbox “Crowed Reading”. After countless shows and gigs Suraj had a huge portfolio under his belt by the age of 24. He has been known to play from club nights at the Forum, Concorde 2, Sway London, Batchwoods, Ministry of Sound, Rainforest Café, Village Underground, Electric Brixton just to name a few. Being a popular choice in the industry, Suraj has a lot interest for private bookings ranging from Corporate, Luxury Weddings, Fashions Shows, Festivals allowing him to strengthen his style and crowed judgement in most music genres.
Future goals for Suraj keep playing music, and playing it well. Studying music/technology is key role in Suraj’s life and there’s nothing better than keeping up to date right!
Introducing The Fedz, a 13 member, London based collective of singers, rappers, musicians and visual artists with one goal – to make music without gimmicks.
The Fedz dived head first onto the scene in 2016 letting their music speak for itself, sending their track to 1Xtra without any more info than just their name. It shot straight onto the 1Xtra B list making a firm impression on tastemakers such as Trevor Nelson, DJ Targer and Clara Amfo.
I started out after getting my first pair of turntables at the age of 17 (which I still own) practising in my bedroom surrounded by flowery wallpaper.
After spending all my pocket money on vinyl in Surrey Street market, I sweet talked my way in and set up a buy now pay later scheme with them
My first major gig was at Bagley’s Warehouse in London. I travelled by bus with creates and creates of records. I guess it went well, since then I’ve been gigging for 15+ years. The only difference is I don’t use the bus anymore and the ‘buy now pay later’ is fully paid in advance!
Musically influenced by
My son and daughter, my Dad who was a musician himself, DJ EZ, Tuff Jam, Dream Team, Heartless Crew, Andy C, Carl Cox, Tod Edwards, Bob Marley, John Lennon, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Whitney, Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart, Will Smith, Jazzy Jeff, Biggie, Jay Z, Busta Rhymes, Tribe Called Quest, Cyprus Hill, Naughty By Nature, Public Enemy and listening to pirate radio stations such as Upfront FM/Magic FM/Rinse FM…I could keep going
Even though I love all genres of music, I’m a connoisseur in Garage, Bhangra & Bollywood
James Bond, looking sharp, my Jordan’s, Manchester United FC and House & Garage raves
Sanjay has been spinning music for more than 25 years. He started mixing on tape decks, (if you remember them) and soon moved to his preferred tools – turntables. In the late ’80s and ’90s, he grew up collecting R n B/Hip Hop vinyl records and practicing the art of DJaying. Sanjay’s career started in the nightlife industry where he would showcase his skills in the club scene. His mission was to take what he practiced to the outside world. After many mix-tapes and a whole load of flyering, the portfolio grew with clubs like; Hacienda, Limelight, Ministry of Sound, Bagleys, Hippodrome, Maestros – to name just a few.
His passion for music continued in the 2000’s to a whole new scale. He wanted to be more open-format and introduce elements of Funk, Bollywood, and Jungle to his sets. It was all about fusing genres together to create a unique sound to keep the crowd guessing and wanting more.
